We (a married couple, early 30s, both working full-time jobs in The Netherlands) started our financial freedom journey in 2019.

Our starting net worth was €40,600 and currently, it’s at €146,300.

At first, the goal was cutting costs and saving money to buy an apartment in Amsterdam for rental income. With the city government increasingly toughening the rules for landlords however, this doesn’t seem as good of a deal anymore. After lots of research, we started investing in other assets in August 2019.

Our current investment portfolio is €55,400 and consists of peer-to-peer lending, individual stocks and an ETF.

Entering our second year of consciously working towards financial independence, our goals are:

For 2020

  • Have 125,000 invested by end of year
  • Reach 175,000 net worth

For mid-term

  • Earn 500 passive income per month

For long-term

  • Become a millionaire
  • Quit our office jobs and move to a village in the mountains with our future kids and dogs!
